Product Review: Vax Air Reach

As mentioned in the past, and as demonstrated by the little badge over there to the right, I am part of the Vax Voice Consumer Testing team. This means from time to time I am sent a product to review and in the  past have reviewed a steam cleaner and a carpet washer both of which are still in regular use. The carpet washer is an absolute godsend and I don't know where I'd be without it now! Whoever decided on cream carpets with two small children must have been crazy...

The latest product I was asked to review was the Vax Air Reach upright bagless vacuum cleaner.

I was quite excited about receiving this product. Clearly I already own a vacuum cleaner but the arrival of the Air Reach means I can be a bit greedy and have an upstairs cleaner and a downstairs cleaner. I know. How lazy is that right?

This vacuum is super lightweight which means it is ideal for carrying around, especially up and downstairs - a huge bonus point as my existing cleaner is heavy and I can't count the amount of times I've nearly fallen downstairs whilst carrying it, and talking of stairs, it also has an extra long hose that reaches all the way to the top of the stairs.

Apparently if you've got pets, the multicyclonic (it's a posh word, I'm not entirely sure what it means but we will translate it as super-dooper-whizzy) suction and turbo tool make this the ideal product for sucking up pet hairs. I don't have pets inside the house so I can't comment on this but can say it does have good suction as it lifted an awful lot of dust and fluff off my carpets and I vacuum them every day!

You could be put off by the size of this vacuum as it doesn't look big enough to do a sterling job but for a small and lightweight cleaner it's remarkably powerful yet quite quiet and has an equal amount of suction to my original vacuum. I have to admit that I was surprised at how good this was, so much so that I may switch and make this my downstairs cleaner as that one gets more use.

If I had to try and find a negative, my only niggle was I found it a bit fiddly to empty, however that's only a really small niggle and that's me being picky.

I've been using this product now for over two months and so far, so good! It's definitely something I would be happy to recommend.

With thanks to Vax for providing this product for review.

PS I found the actual definition of multicyclonic thanks to Vax...

"Air Reach has multiple cyclone technology to provide consistent suction for powerful, efficient cleaning. The air and dust sucked into the machine spins through a series of cyclones that separate out most of the dust before it reaches the filters, so they don’t get clogged. This ensures that you don’t lose suction as you clean and you never experience a frustrating drop off in performance.:

So now you know.
