Mrs M's Pizza Bread!

I feel a bit rubbish about sharing this "recipe" with you because there's not really any cooking involved, well unless you make your own pizza sauce, which on this occasion I didn't...

French bread pizza has long been a delicacy in our household but it's only recently I've truly perfected it. It used to be Mr M's domain but I've finally got it just how I like it and I thought in the interests of public service and duty I would share this with you. Because you know, it might be simple but that's why I love it - quick, easy and oh-so-tasty and satisfying!

I generally use the Napolina pizza topping sauce because it's delicious and I normally always have some in the cupboard, but you can just as easily make your own make your own. If you're going to make your own, I can recommend this one.

Mrs M's Pizza Bread

Ingredients

1 large French bread stick, cut in half lengthwise and sliced into portions
Olive oil infused with garlic
300g Jar of pizza sauce/homemade sauce
250g grated mozzarella cheese
Various toppings (ham, mushroom, pineapple, pepperoni...)

Method

Preheat oven to 180c.

Place your freshly cut French stick slices on to a clean baking tray and press down gently to compress them slightly.

Take a pastry brush and lightly brush the surface of the bread with the garlic-infused olive oil.

Top the bread with about 1/4 of the grated mozzarella and transfer to the oven for a couple of minutes until the cheese is just starting to melt.

Remove the bread from the oven and spread your pizza sauce all over the bread. Take the remaining grated mozzarella and spread it evenly over the bread.

Finish with your choice of toppings (I normally do a mix) and return to the oven until all the cheese is melted and the pizzas are starting to brown slightly.

Eat.  (You might want to let it cool for a minute or two though, these things are HOT when they come out, like cheesy-crazy hot!)

Easy huh.

I know it's not rocket science but a lot of people seem to not bother with the pre-cooking and cheesing (that's the technical term folks) of the bread but what this does is it kind of seals the bread so that the pizza sauce doesn't just sink into the bread and make it go all soggy. It's well worth doing that extra step take it from me.

This is another one of those things that I like to refer to as "Friday Night Food" and I am totally craving this now!
