Product Review: Cut the Rope

A while back I was sent some Cut the Rope goodies. Now if you've got young children with access to an iPod/iPad/iPhone etc etc then you'll probably already be aware of Cut the Rope.  It's a game that has been downloaded a lot, like over 100 million times, so yes, it's rather popular.

The objective of Cut the Rope is to feed candy to a little green monster whilst collecting stars. That little green monster is Om Nom and clearly quite cute and loveable and completely the type of character that my 6 year old boy loves.

I was sent various bits of merchandise including a magazine, a Nommies blind bag, some sticker and doodle books, a joke book, magnets and the star himself, an Om Nom toy.  All of the goodies went down a treat - my children are big fans of sticker, doodle and joke books and there's rarely a meal out of a camping trip away where I don't have some of these types of books stashed away. The addition of a well-known character only makes these more appealing. These books will keep them occupied for hours.

Obviously what they were really keen to get their hands on was the Om Nom Talking Plush (RRP £9.99), my two are suckers for a soft toy, even more so if it makes a noise and Om Nom was only too obliging on the noise front!   Om Nom blurts out some of the familiar phrases from the game. The only downside to this toy is that batteries are non-replaceable. I guess it could be used as purely a cuddly toy when the batteries run out but I don't think my son will be very happy once it doesn't make any more noise!

The Cut the Rope merchandise is a good tie-in to an already-popular game and I could see these items making great presents for App-crazy kids and with a recently launched new Cut the Rope game I can only see these getting more popular.
