Meal Planning Monday (4th February 2013)

February, finally!

Firstly, I'm going to apologise if I haven't got around to commenting on your blog yet.  I sat down to do it yesterday and when I opened my laptop I saw the sad news that one of our meal-planners  Jennie from Edspire, had some terrible news and sadly her darling 9 month old daughter Matilda passed away this weekend. It kind of poleaxed me as it did many others and things went a bit awry. My thoughts are with Jennie and her family right now. There aren't really any words.

In terms of meal planning, well I'm well and truly biting the bullet and getting back on the diet this week which means I am going to be eating calorie controlled ready meals this week. I went to M&S and stocked up today as they're on offer at the moment and they do a fab Fuller Longer range so I thought I'd try them. I've decided not to totally punish myself though and Friday and Saturday nights will be treat dinners, but within reason.

For everyone else it's going to be like this....

Macaroni cheese and garlic bread
Tagliatelle bolognese
Roast chicken & all the trimmings
Sausage and mash
Pizza

I haven't yet decided what our treat meals will be as I need to peruse the cookery books some more.

Okay - your turn! If you're new to my blog or #mealplanningmonday all you have to do is this - write a blog post about your meal plan for the week and submit the URL of your post using the Linkytools below. If you've not got a blog but want to join in, that's fine - just leave a comment below telling us what you're planning this week.  Any questions, just holler at me via email (in the contact page) or on Twitter @madamding.

Also, I mentioned this last month but my monthly recipe Link Party for February is now active and will run until the end of February, so if you make something in February that you're proud of and want to share, add it to the Linky on that page which you can find HERE

Look forward to reading your blog posts!

  1. I felt exactly the same yesterday too, such awful news. Like you say there are no words I literally don't know what to say, it's just horrific.

Good luck on the diet this week x

I was saying at the weekend we hadn't had macaroni cheese in ages, perhaps your post is a sign I need to make it! Good luck with the diet x

  3. This is a great idea, I'm just not sure I have the organisation skills in meal planning to take part. But if I get inspiration from you, I may well participate in the future.

  6. what tragic news. Makes you realise what matters in life and how much you have to make the most of what you have while you have it doesn't it.

Good luck with the diet - after a weighing and measuring session yesterday, I'll be joining in with the dieting. Extra hard though when cooking for everyone else, but worth it in the end. Good luck!

  8. I didn't know Jennie, but was still awful to hear the sad news.

Food-wise - my diet's gone to pots the last week, so need to get back to eat - cutting down the grazing in the day and back to just normal meals. I've also got sausage and macaroni in my plan this week.

  9. Thanks for hosting!

As a newbie meal planner - you do a great job of keeping me on the straight & narrow. Knowing that I want to come here every week and have something - or other - to show for myself really does help me get myself organised. Alice @ MumsMakeLists
