Duplo Experts - Disney Cars 2 Duplo Review

As you might know from the rather nifty badge over there to the right, I am a Lego Duplo Expert. One of the perks of such a position is that occasionally we see the arrival of a parcel of Duplo goodies.  Back in August I received such a parcel and yes, I am hideously late in writing about this and for that I must apologise. 

Anyhow, the parcel arrival was somewhat of a surprise because firstly, we hadn't been expecting one and secondly, it was HUGE.  For my 4 year old boy it was like his birthday and Christmas all rolled into one. The parcel couldn't have been better received as it contained four Disney Cars 2 Duplo sets.  I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned it on here but the little guy is a huge Disney Cars fan. Massive. We have practically every type of merchandise you can think of from bed linen to cutlery to suitcases to PJs so the arrival of, what can only be described as, a mound of Cars Duplo? Well he was just beside himself, especially as we had just been to see the film. Note: My daughter? Not so much so Lego Duplo - if you can arrange for some pink stuff next time she'd really appreciate it....! Only joking, she's played with it just as much but her first reaction was "harumph".

We were sent 5829 The Pit Stop, 5817 Agent Mater, 5818 Luigi's Italian Place and 5819 Tokyo Racing. 

Being a little bit anally rententive, I would only let them get one box out a time as not to mess up the pieces. Of course my children get maximum enjoyment from Duplo when it is all mixed up. Never usually ones to follow instructions, they'll abide me helping to put it together correctly the first time but after that they want free reign and who can blame them?

Duplo is great for bringing out their creative sides and my little man likes to build things his own way, really using his imagination to play with it in different ways, whereas my daughter (who is 5) likes to try and build them "properly" but in her own way, without the use of instructions or pictures.

Duplo is still a big hit in our house and the new Cars 2 sets are, as always, great fun and good quality. I can see this being played with in our house for a very long time.
