Vintage clothing has been very much on my mind today. I've been making plans to go to both the Goodwood Revival and also the new event for 2010 Vintage at Goodwood. Obviously these events mean that I will need some fabulous outfits in keeping with the theme. The Goodwood Revival is very much centered around the 1950's & 1960's whereas Vintage at Goodwood spans the 1940s-1980s, giving great scope for outfit possibilities.
I'm thinking that for the Revival I would like to go 1950's and perhaps for Vintage I'll aim for more 1960's. The tough part is finding the outfits and I've been wrestling over whether my outfit should be actual vintage, or vintage inspired. The latter would certainly be easier and unlikely as it seems, cheaper! Vintage clothing prices appear to have rocketed in the past few years, however the chances of several people wearing the same dress as me are high.
I've been scouring Ebay but nothing much has caught my eye although next on my list will be to scour Etsy and Ebay.com. I figure that the US must have a much larger vintage collection and perhaps might even be cheaper. I've also got a few vintage clothes shops to check out in Birmingham over the next few months so I'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, to help me decide whether I should be authentic or copycat, I've been perusing some of the online stores that are out there and here are some of my current favourites.

With regard to the vintage inspired outfits, I'd like to believe that I have the va-va-voom figure to carry those frocks but, well, no, I haven't. Not yet anyhow.
