Product Review: VAX Hard Floor Advance+

I've been a VAX blogger for quite a while now but this is the first product I have tested in a while. I'm already the owner of a steam cleaner having reviewed the Hard Floor Master back in January 2012.  This time I have been sent the VAX Hard Floor Advance.

Like the Hard Floor Master, the Advance is a steam cleaner designed to make cleaning sealed hard floors easier. You can use it on tiles, lino, sealed laminate and wood floor and you can also use it refresh carpets and rugs.

I really hate cleaning the kitchen floor but it is one of those necessary evils that needs attending to often, especially when you live in a muddy rural area and have icky sticky children dropping stuff all over the cream tiled floor!  Before I got my Hard Floor Master I used to use a mop and bucket and the drying time used to get completely on my wick. Plus I never felt like a mop was the most hygienic of things so wasn't quite sure how good a job I was of actually cleaning the place up.

The Hard Floor Advance when used with the citrus fresh steam detergent eliminates 99.95 of harmful bacteria for up to 7 days and the best thing is that the cleaning pads can be bunged in the washing machine on a hot wash.  When I've finished cleaning the floor it's a beautiful thing and the fact that it's almost dry before you've even finished is a big bonus. No more wet socks when I sneak across the floor to get something I've forgotten. Normally my mobile phone or a cup of tea...

It's easy to set up the Hard Floor Advance. There's a little jug to measure out the correct amount of water and detergent which needs to be poured into the two tanks. It's only about a minute before it's heated up and then off you go! Depending on the size of your floor and how dirty it is I guess, you get about 15-30 minutes before you need to refill the twin tanks.

Probably the only thing I would change about the Hard Floor Advance is the steam button. You have to hold it constantly, if there was a way of keeping it pressed for a length of time that would be really handy but it's only a small niggle really. All-in-all I think the Hard Floor Advance is an improvement of the previous Hard Floor Master I had been using.

The Hard Floor Advance comes with a measuring jug, 1 x microfibre cleaning pad, carpet glider, cooling base and some steam detergent. Additional accessories and steam detergents are available direct from the VAX official website.
