Somewhere to rest your feet?

Everyone around me is moving house at the moment and I’m getting the itchiest of feet. Of course, we’re now in our “forever house” which means we can’t and won’t be moving for the foreseeable.  This naturally means that Mr M has to put up with me constantly wanting to decorate rooms and rearrange furniture.

We did a massive renovation of our house a couple of years back and painted everything a nice shade of cream, however, I’m now completely fed up with cream walls and am ready to inject a bit of colour and make my living room more cosy. This includes changing some of the furniture pieces and adding new ones. Currently I’m lacking in a coffee table, you know, somewhere to put nice books and rest my feet when I’m watching TV of an evening.

Now this never bothered me before now as I had little children that needed more space and less head injuries so having a coffee table plonked in the middle of the room wasn’t something that I considered but having looked for lots of inspiration recently, all the nice rooms have little tables in the room.

See? A coffee table is essential for putting your nice stuff on and just finishes off a room nicely I think. Problem is, there's too much choice and I can't decide. Big or small? Wooden or glass? Hidden storage or open shelf or no shelf? The combinations and possibilities are endless.  This is why decisions never get made in my house and why three months later, I'm still studying paint charts in depth.

Do you have a coffee table in your living room? What style is it and what do you keep on it?
