Product Review: Character Building Sports Stars Pitch & Play - Series 2

Recently we were sent one of these Sports Stars Pitch and Play Sets to try out along with three packets of micro figures from the new Sports Stars Series 2 range.

The Pitch and Play set comprises of the pitch, two netted (not actually net but plastic) goals, corner flag posts, three players and a ball.  The idea behind the Pitch and Play Set is that you collect key players from the English Premier Leagues top teams home or away kits (these come in little foil packets that you buy separately) and then pass, dribble and shoot by flicking your players across the pitch.  The set comes with three micro-figures to start you off.

The biggest challenge I found with the Pitch and Play Set was keeping the "pitch" board together. Actually constructing it in the first place was a bit tricky in itself, not something my 6 year old could quite manage to do on his own but whilst all the pieces connect together to form one big pitch they don't actually clip together in any way so once it's made you can't really move it and they do tend to come apart quite easily. That said, it doesn't detract in any way from the playing but if they did stay connected in some way I think it would improve the product.

Notwithstanding the above, my son really enjoyed playing with this game. He's only really just getting into football and he enjoyed playing pretend matches with his dad. The game is simple to play and could probably over hours of fun to young football-loving children! I guess a downside could be perceived by the fact that you really need more figures to be able to play properly and obviously these come at an extra cost but the little foil pockets are ideal pocket money buys if your child really gets into it.

Sportstars are also looking for 5 school youth football teams to sponsor  - with new kits for the whole team on offer and a monthly mention in Kick magazine. If you think this one’s for you child’s football team go to  http://www.characterbuildingsportsstars.co.uk/  for more info.
