Product Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

*sings badly*

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Heroes in a half-shell TURTLE POWER!

Yes, in the words of the theme song they ARE the worlds most fearsome fighters, munching pizza all the way, and I'm so glad they are back! When the original Turtles came out I was about eleven I think and I was quite a fan back then so I there was part of me that was quite excited to see they had made a comeback and hadn't been massively revamped.  My 6 year old son has taken a shine to the Turtles himself so was quite keen to have a look at what we were sent.

We were sent two toys to look at one. One was a Leatherhead action figure and the other  toy was from their "Flingers" range - we received Michelangelo.

First up, lets look at Leatherhead.

Leatherhead is a giant mutant sewer alligator, of course.  The story goes that Leatherhead is the Kraang's worst enemy and creation. After he was mutated from a reptile to a living monster he promised himself he would spare this world from their evil and captured the Kraang's power cell. He's a powerful ally in the Turtle's fight against the Kraang. This toy is basically just an action figure, it doesn't do anything as such but there are a whole other collection of figures you can buy to set and role-play your own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game.

I think the figure is a really good size and actually very good quality compared to some other action figure toys we've had in the past. Leatherhead is a meaty and sturdy figure and I think he'll probably live up to a fair amount of abuse.

Next up the Michelangelo Flinger.  My son was quite taken by this as it was more interactive than the Leatherhead figure toy. Michelangelo has an "Umpire's Shell Shield" and "Blow Bracing Bandaages"but the best thing? He has a "Sewer-Trekking Battle Pack". What do you do with the battle pack I hear you ask? You load it with pizzas!

Yes, fill up Michelangelo with pizza and then roll him sideways and out shoot the pizzas. It's pretty awesome and they fling really far! The boy was very impressed with this and has had lots of fun playing with it. There are all four turtles to collect with different flinging weapons. Leonardo flings Sewer Covers, Raphael flings Sais and Donatello flings Flipping Bo Staffs. I suspect we might be seeing the appearance of the Flingers on the Christmas list this year!

Great to see the Turtles back fighting evil and even greater to see that they're great quality, fun toys.
