Festive films and super snuggles

Today in the M household all organised plans got shot to s&*t as the littlest one of us has been struck down by a viral infection. He's on the mend but one last day of mummy snuggles in front of the fire was required and I decided it was time to break out the Christmas movies. First up was The Polar Express which is probably his favourite Christmas film, swiftly followed by Santa Paws and then Shrek the Halls.

I love a Christmas film, there's something quite warming and nostalgic about digging out films you only watch at a certain time of the year and we all have our favourites don't we? What are yours? My personal favourites are...

Home Alone - fab film, never gets old. I could watch this film all day long. In fact I may well watch it tonight.

Santa Clause the Movie - an oldie but a goodie! I remember watching this at school on party days and getting excited when it came on TV. Remember those days? When you didn't have films on demands or endless piles of DVDs?

Love Actually. Man how I wish they would make another film like Love Actually as a I actually loved every second of this film.

There's nothing like a Christmas film to really get you feeling festive is there? Obviously I've missed out loads of fab ones - Miracle on 34th Street, Muppet Christmas Carol, It's A Wonderful Life, Elf....  It was definitely the tonic I needed today.

It's been quite a miserable day due to abandoning my plans to go Christmas shopping in Birmingham where I was also meeting someone regarding a blogging opportunity, cancelling a play-date after school and even worse than that - cancelling a well-deserved curry and wine night round at a friends house as her children are also ill. So when there was a knock at the door and the postman was standing their brandishing a small cardboard box at me full of treats I could hardly contain myself!

The box in question was from Ladbrokes and was an early Christmas present that contained some lovely things, namely a set of Cath Kidston hand-creams  a book on homemade decoration making, some tree decorations to make and colour and my favourite part of all - a wonderful set of Christmas Yankee Candles samplers.

I love a Yankee Candle and this set has a book shaped gift set with 12 candles in it - Winter Wonderland, Red Berry & Cedar, Sparkling Snow, Mulled Wine, Mountain Pine, Sparkling Cinnamon, Mistletoe & Fig, Holiday Home Sweet Home, Christmas Cupcake, Christmas Eve, Christmas Cookie and Happy Christmas. Honestly, the post has never smelled so good. All I need to do now is to decide which one I am going to try first!

Receiving something like that certainly cheers a girl up!

Right, I make it wine'o'clock so I'm off to pour a glass and shoehorn the children into bed before anyone else gets ill!

  3. I watched the Polar Express for the first time the other day, i used my one year old son as an excuse to watch it! It's so nice! My more grown up favourite film has to be National Lampoons Christmas Vacation!

I sniffed a lot of the yankee candles in Debenhams yesterday, they're wonderful!

Shame you missed Birmingham, the German Market there is so nice this time of year x
