...in the world right now - regardless of cost, time and any other restricting factors, where would go? Would you go to a bustling city, a deserted island, trekking up a mountain? Would it be somewhere you've been before or somewhere completely new?

Me? If I could go anywhere I'd go to the South Pacific and the French Polynesia - that is my dream destination but very unlikely in the near future. A more realistic option would be Florida - I just love it there and cannot wait to go back.
I only ask this because right now I am in holiday planning mode. My head is full of destinations - so many places I want to go and see. However unlike dream destinations, obviously we do have restraints - the cost factor being a huge one! This year, after doing a manic two weeks in Orlando the previous year, we did two run-of-the-mill beach/poolside holidays in the Balearics and Canaries. They were fabulous, we'd not done a holiday like that in a few years and the children loved every minute of it but next year I'd like to do something a bit, well, different.

But what?
So far the front runners are either South of France - sightseeing and people watching in Nice, Cannes, St Tropez, and Monaco or island-hopping in Greece. I've thrown another Florida trip into the mix but I doubt very much that I will win that one and just to make it interesting I suggested Hawaii island-hopping but Mr M thinks the children are too young.

I'm struggling with any other inspiration right now, so that's what I wanted to ask you, my readers to tell me about your holidays. Dream holidays, what you did this year, what you're planning next year, any recommendations...I want to hear it all.
Please share!

ReplyDeleteThat would be very interesting!
DeleteNothing I like more than planning my next holiday! Would love to go to Dubai, but husband not at all keen on that. Next year's hols will probably be the Canaries at Easter for a bit of warmth and sunshine, a fortnight's luxury and relaxation at Porto Sani Village in Halkidiki in July (7th year running, because we love it soooo much!), and either the Maldives or Mauritius with extended family in October. And maybe a European city break (adults only) in the spring with friends. BTW, if you ever get to go to your dream destination of French Polynesia, you must go to Bora Bora - it's the most beautiful and unspoilt place I've ever been in the whole world - I used to work on cruise ships and have been lucky enough to travel the world over several times. I would love to go back to Bora Bora one day ....
ReplyDeleteI was looking at Porto Sani for next year, very pricy though, but I think we might well be Greece-bound next year.
DeleteI'm very jealous of you going to Bora Bora!
One word EVERYWHERE! I love to travel and discover new places. I really do want to see everything.
ReplyDeleteWe are currently house hunting in Valencia,Spain,so that is our regular holiday destination.
Our dream holiday would be to visit our sponsored children in Bolivia, Nicuaragua, Brazil and Peru. Some of them we have sponsored since they were only 3 or 4 years old and they are now in their teens. Even though we feel really blessed to have known them through letters we would love the opporunity to meet them face to face before they leave the Compassion sponsorship project. At the moment it remains just a dream with our own kiddies being too young and finances, getting time off work etc etc.
