Chocolate Easter Nests



A complete staple at Easter, everyone has to make Easter nests with their kids don't they? Even if you don't have kids you still need to make some. It's the law.

What you see above is the final product, made with the delicate hands of my three year old last Easter. Poor little darling was slightly tormented by the fact that she couldn't eat the chocolate that I was breaking up to melt but I did let her lick the sticky spatula.

The recipe I followed was largely this....

Chocolate Easter Nests

Ingredients

200g milk chocolate
25g dark chocolate
25g unsalted butter
80g cornflakes
25 Cadburys Mini Eggs

Method

Put 12 paper baking cases into the holes of 12 hole muffin tin.

Break the chocolate into small pieces and put into a glass bowl with the butter. Melt on a medium heat in the microwave for about two minutes. When melted, stir well.

Put the cornflakes in a large mixing bowl, add the melted chocolate and stir well (but not too vigorously or else you might smush all the cornflakes up). Now take a spoonful or two of the mixture and fill each case, leaving enough room to put two mini eggs on top.

Leave to cool until set and then merrily fill your face.

Simple, even a three year old could master that (the trickiest thing is melting the chocolate carefully and not letting the darn thing sieze as has happened to me on several occasions).

    I also make them with Shredded Wheat sometimes but the kids are not so keen on the Shredded Wheat for some reason so we go for cornflakes instead! I like them with Shredded Wheat though!

    I much prefer them with cornflakes and I sometimes put a tablespoon of golden syrup in with the chocolate - mmm!
