Camille's Appeal

My blog is generally very lighthearted but I wanted to just take the opportunity to share with you a very special little girl. Shortly after she turned two years old, in June 2009 Camille Shave was diagnosed with a large brain tumour. Since last summer she has not only been undertaking a grueling chemotherapy regime but has battled infections and has had numerous operations - yet she still smiles. She is an amazingly gorgeous and brave little girl as the video about her will show you.

The complexity of brain tumours and their treatment in young children means that there is a high chance Camille will need further treatment outside of the UK. To this end, her very devoted parents set up Camille's Appeal - initially to raise money to help fund this treatment but also with a goal to help other families who are going through the same thing by raising money to assist the NHS in developing their services and treatments for very young children with brain tumours.

So far the appeal has been very successful but Camille's parents Hayley & Martin still need as much support as possible. There are many ways you can help the appeal - current events that the appeal is organising include walks, bike rides, bungee jumping, a 70's night...check out the appeal's website for more details of how to get involved. You can help by selecting Camille's Appeal as your chosen fund when you shop with Yellow Moon. You can make a donation to the fund at any time with Just Giving. You could arrange an event of your own - a cake sale maybe, a car boot stall with proceeds going to the appeal...the list is endless.

Camille is the same age as my son and I cannot begin to imagine how her family her feel or what they are going through. I think about her daily and feel incredibly useless that I can't do more to help them - words don't seem enough but I know the support that Hayley and Martin receive is so important to them, not just the financial aspect of the appeal but the emotional support, just knowing that there are people out their rooting for their little girl, thinking of her and wishing for a full recovery is a comfort. The beautiful Camille touches the lives of everyone who hears what she has faced and is still facing every day, with great courage.

If you can support the appeal in any way, please do but above all, please keep this special girl in your thoughts and prayers.

love & kisses
