Snow, that is. (Hold up - Grumpy Old Women style rant coming on) As I look out of my window at my office in Rugby, it's snowing. Again. I don't want to be a killjoy, I really don't. I love snow as much as the next person but well, it's getting a little annoying now isn't it? It feels like it has been here F.O.R.E.V.E.R.
It's cold, wet, slippy, slushy, dirty. I've lived in pink wellingtons for a week. The poor little birdies water bowl keeps getting frozen. I'm sick of having to wrap everyone up in a jackets and coats, hats, scarves, gloves and wellies to even just step out of the house. I hate doing the cold, icy school run at 8.30am in the morning on treacherous roads that haven't been gritted (yet again). I hate going out on my lunch break and coming back all soggy because of the falling snow. My car is all frozen up so I can't clean my window screen anymore. People drive like idiots. Twats in 4x4's keeping overtaking me on icy roads - just because they can. My kids want to go out and play in it but it's just too darned cold for them. The rubbish doesn't get collected. The post doesn't get delivered. The schools close (but I still have to go to work). People panic shop meaning I can't get a loaf of bread when I need one. My daughter can't use her new birthday present - a shiny new bike. The snow and ice is doing wonders for the condition of my driveway and the country lanes around home. Psyche*.
It has snowed so much recently we barely even talk about it anymore. Driving down the M6 on Saturday it started to snow. Normally both Mr M and I myself would be a little bit WOW! It's snowing! but neither of us mentioned it because it's normal and to be expected now. Woke up to more snow on Monday morning and by Tuesday, even though it was slippy and the traffic was horrendous, it looked like it was thawing. I got a tiny bit excited about the prospect of no snow. Until we got a huge dump overnight on Tuesday (another 3-4 inches) and it's still going.
I'm holding onto the hope that by June we might have thawed out a little and be able to step outside our houses without falling on our bottoms. Remind me never to go on holiday to a cold country. Why on earth can the snow just not come at Christmas - when it is SUPPOSED TO!! When we're all dreaming of a White Christmas, and we have nothing better to do with our time other than snuggle up in front of a cosy fire.
Yes, I am a miserable old sod in cold weather. Perhaps I suffer from SAD? or perhaps I just want the snow to BOG OFF!

*How PJ & Duncan is that?
So PJ & Duncan! Now I feel old! I'm with you about the snow. I'm totally over it too but we had another inch overnight (in Daventry) and it doesn't look likely to thaw any time soon. Grrr!
ReplyDeleteI actually have a PJ and Duncan CD single or two somewhere...
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha. I live in Canada. Much worse. Stop your wingeing! (said with respect!)
