Product Review: Orchard Toys Big Police Car Puzzle

I'm going to start by saying a big sorry to Orchard Toys for taking so long to review this game. They sent me absolutely eons ago and I completely forgot about it, so I apologise!

Big Police Car is a 30-piece shaped floor puzzle aimed at children aged 3 and above. I don't know a single child of that age who hasn't been fascinated by emergency vehicles and even though my son is now 5, he still love's to play with police cars and helicopters.  Obviously he was keen to play with this puzzle - it was brightly coloured and covered in police - horses, cars, helicopters and motorbikes, some of his favourite things.

My boy set off constructing this puzzle with me as we always do - always start with the sides first and then fill in the edges. You wouldn't believe how long it has taken to grasp this concept! He's a bit of a dab hand at puzzles so had this put together in no time and was rather proud of himself. The big pieces make it perfect for little hands to get to grips with and if anything I'd probably say he was a bit too old for it and I think it would definitely be suited to children a little younger than him.

All Orchard Toys games and puzzles have meet various educational needs and the Big Police Car puzzle helps to develop knowledge and understanding of the world, it promotes manual dexterity and teaches matching skills. The products are tested in schools as well as at home and I think this attention to detail shows. I know they are well-used in the school my children attend.

The puzzle is, as all Orchard Toys games and products are, made from durable, hard-wearing recycled cardboard and is completely made in England. I think I've mentioned it before but what always stands out to me about Orchard Toys products is the quality. It's really noticeable that they have been made well and having had many a puzzle or game in this house, I can vouch for the fact that they really do stand the test of time!

My son enjoyed the Big Police Car puzzle and I think it's definitely something that we'll be putting to one side for his toddler cousin to start playing with when she comes to visit. I'm sure she'll love it too!
