A while ago I was selected as a Morphy Richards Innovator thanks to this blog post and the Foodies100. Back in July I was sent my first product to review - the Hand Blender Work Centre.
The Hand Blender Work Centre is a compact hand blender and processor with a powerful 700w motor to help you take the effort out of blending and processing. It comes a blending leg, a chopping blade and some shredding and slicing blades. It comes in red and cream and a rather fetching translucent red colour too.
When it arrived, I set to work unpacking it. I always feel slightly overwhelmed when faced with lots of plastic packets and normally holler for Mr M - I'm such a girl - but it was fine, it was all straightforward to work out and put together. There's a handy little booklet which talks you through all the bits and bobs and how to use the various accessories as well as giving you advice about care and cleaning (the beaker, chopping bowl and blades can go in the dishwasher) and some top tips like "do not lift the blending leg out of the mixture completely when running, as splashing may occur". How many people have fallen foul of splashing when using a blender, I wonder *raises hand*.
Ta-dah! Looks rather splendid doesn't it?
Well it did until I decided to grate beetroot in it for this recipe.
The Hand Blender Work Centre made light work of grating the beetroot and I was thankful to have it. I mean, what's the alternative - hand-grating beetroot? Life is surely too short for getting that messy for a bit of beetroot salad. The pusher helped ease the beetroot down through the feed tube and on to the grating disc and the whole process took about 5 seconds.
I thought the real test was going to be cleaning it because of all that beetroot but it simply washed away and didn't leave any mess behind. It didn't dye anything bright red like I had feared either!
Being a kitchen gadget-lover I do of course have an array of choppers, blenders, juicers, mixers and food processors however my hand blender is fiddly and messy (and old) so I can do away with that now and also because of it's compact nature, this is really great for doing little bits of shredding or grating. It's a great product if you've only got a small kitchen as it's really two-in-one so a fab space-saver!
The Morphy Richards Hand Blender Work Centre retails at around £79.99 and if you want to see it in action, check out this video here.
This looks wonderful! I have been looking at blenders for months because mine died at the beginning of the spring, and I had chosen a hand-blender that I could afford without it being too feeble. Now I've acquired an old one of my dad's but I would love to have something like this! I was hoping there might be a giveaway contest ;)
