Meal Planning Monday (25th June 2012)

It's Meal Planning Monday again and I haven't got a plan. I HAVEN'T GOT A PLAN!

My mojo has up and left since it has been forced into healthy meals and I'm seriously lacking inspiration this week. I think it's probably going to go something like lettuce + cucumber, lettuce + radish, lettuce + lettuce. Seriously.

I'm just about to go through the past few weeks worth of submissions in the hope that some of you have been angelic and been healthy eating recently. In the meantime, here's the Linky so that those of you who do have a plan this week can submit your links!

If you've got any stonking diet-friendly recipes, leave me a comment and let me know!

Look forward to reading all your #mealplanningmonday posts later this week.

  1. There are a few on my recipe page http://bigeejit.blogspot.co.uk/p/recipes_07.html
Especially chicken dhansak, spaghetti arribiatta (minus the salami), oriental salmon, garlic mushroom pasta (ignore the crap photo), and rice filled peppers. I know you aren't officially dieting but the Rosemary Conley page has some great low fat low cal recipes on it. Good luck! x

    1. Hi Ali, I'm certainly doing my best to avoid it too. Had takeaway curry last night. Whoops!

  3. Diets are rubbish, what are you following? Best for me is low GI as it's nearest normal eating but it works on eating what your body needs & makes it work Ithe best way too. So when we eat rice, it's wholemeal, bread is wholemeal.... Having said all of that's the mo, having just had a baby I'm out of the way of it, I am putting that down in my pans for next week

    1. At the moment, I'm not following anything strict, just trying to cut out excessive carbs and fat. More sensible eating and exercise.

  4. I can highly recommend all the recipes I've ever listed that have quinoa in them - very healthy, filling, & delicious! =)

    1. I have never tried quinoa, I'm not sure what Mr M would think of it!

  5. I'm doing weightwatchers and it's great - I just eat pretty much the same as the rest of the family but smaller portions than I used to, and I've lost 2 stone in 16 weeks so far... I often use beans or lentils to make things like meat stretch further, like lamb and lentil curry, and I have a recipe on my blog for hake with chorizo and bean stew which is yummy and pretty healthy :) You definitely need protein if you're trying to lose weight, or you just end up hungry...

    1. Yes, I've done WW in the past and been successful. I was always hungry though!

  6. I have a few healthy ideas on my blog but they might take some finding. If you search for "diet meals" you should get a few results. I can recommend my spicy carrot and lentil soup recipe as tasty yet healthy. Also my scallop risotto is nice, I've never blogged the recipe though! It's a plain risotto with peas and scallops added near the end, with lemon juice rather than cheese (don't add cheese to fish risottos).
Umm, what else, fish is really low in calories so a nice piece steamed with veg or salad would be a lovely dinner, and maybe a nice sauce to go with?
Try to eat most of your carbohydrate at lunchtime, and at dinner just have more protein and veg. That worked for me (I lost 50 lb last year).
    Hope this helps a bit!

  7. I'm a bit like that at the moment, really not feeling the diet at the moment though! I've got a few on my blog if you search slimming world on the drop down archives box. My latest one is http://thesinglemumdiaries.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/pork-in-a-creamy-sherry-sauce/ which is seriously creamy for a diet friendly meal!

  8. We're having five-spice glazed chicken this week (chicken thighs/drumsticks, roasted in the oven with red onion wedges, plums, redcurrant jelly, red wine vinegar, soy sauce and 5 spice, and served with rice and pal choi) which is pretty healthy I think. Last week included thai chicken salad (using chicken mince or finely chopped chicken breast stir fried with minced lemongrass, ginger and chilli, with a dressing of lemon juice and fish sauce, mixed with thinly sliced onion and served with shredded iceberg lettuce - we sometimes add rice noodles if we want something a bit more substantial). Also had Italian Rice with Chicken: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2342/italian-rice-with-chicken. Hope that helps with some ideas.
