Gleekery: Song Choices

Gleeks! Do you ever do that thing, you know, you're driving along in the car and you hear THE perfect song for Glee? No? Fibbers.
Anyway, I've been doing a lot of this recently. I just can't help myself and (I can't believe I admitting this in "public") but I also plan exactly who would sing it, the dance routine, maybe even a little outfit...Hey! There's nothing wrong with an over-active imagination, it's a good thing.

I've seen the lovely Suzie of Gleeks United talking about the very same thing on Twitter, so it's not just me, ner ner ner ner ner.

Here are songs I have recently stumbled across that I would love to see performed on Glee (bearing in mind I am in the UK not the US and have not had the pleasure of seeing the whole series yet).

I ashamed to admit that this makes me do a little quiver. Gee whizz, I'm a fool. I think this is the perfect song for Mr Schuester to sing to Emma. It would be like all my Christmases come at once.

The Veronicas - Untouched
For some reason I picture Quinn, Santana and Brittany doing a kind of upbeat cheer leading type dance routine to this. Weird huh?

Jennifer Hudson - Spotlight
This belongs to Mercedes. Fo' sho.

Amy Grant - Baby Baby
Obviously for Quinn, it's just very apt isn't it and I can totally imagine her singing it.

Barenaked Ladies - If I Had a $1,000,000
I have this song earmarked for Puck accompanied by Artie. I could just see Puck strumming his guitar a la Sweet Caroline, serenading Quinn, giving her that little raised eyebrow...ooh stop, I'm all a quiver again.

I picture the following songs as some of their big performance routines;
Christina Aguilera - Candyman - led by Quinn
REM - Shiny Happy People - Finn, Rachel and Artie
Alphabeat - Fascination - led by Finn and Rachel.

Destiny's Child - Say My Name
All the girls together.

Wilson Phillips - Hold On
I'd love a Quinn and Rachel collaboration. Something like this would be fab.

For some reason it seems easiest to pick songs for Rachel and these are my choices for her.
Lisa Loeb - Stay
Celine Dion - Think Twice
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

and should the Acafellas ever perform together again, I'd like to hear them do Montell Jordan's This is How We Do It again.

So that's my selection - for now, I could literally go on, and on, and believe me, I want to but out of fear for boring you all to tears, I am going to leave it right there. Perhaps there will be a second installment of Gleekery coming your way soon.

What do you think? Anything you like there? Have you got any of your own ideas? I'd love to hear them!

love & kisses

  1. Love REM, they've made some excellent music. Being in the car kind of hides you away from the world doesn't it. I think you can get away with almost anything when singing behind the wheel!

  2. Despite my best intentions I'm getting really into Glee - I loved the mash ups

Is it bad to say I'm tempted to get the CD ?
