Dress purchased? Check!

Yesterday I took my mother to Elisa Hamilton in Henley-in-Arden to show her THE dress (it looks nothing like the one above, honest). I tried on a few others first which were gorgeous but just weren't the one and then I tried on THE dress - well my mum loved it as I knew she would. In typical me style I dithered over it for ages - although this did mean that I got to spend longer in the dress, which is always good! The sales assistant was lovely and said if I ordered there and then she would give me a discount and also throw in the veil for free. It wasn't a great deal but I knew it was the best offer I was going to get so even though I have two more appointments booked at other shops to try on different dresses, I went for it.

The dress I have chosen is a gorgeous Sassi Holford creation, it's ivory silk and hand-beaded lace and I have bought the stunning lace shrug to go with it. I love the way it feels on and the way it moves, it really is my dream dress!

I had to pay a 50% deposit which was a shocking amount, lucky I had my VISA handy! So that's that, it's done and decided now and I can plow ahead with wedding plans as I really feel the dress set the "scene". I just can't believe I have to wait so long to actually wear it now!!

Crazy about colour!

I have this weekend been thinking about flowers and my colour scheme. Originally I had planned on a hot pink and lime green colour scheme, a little like the picture below. I think a few people recoiled at this and thought I was crazy.

I then changed my mind and settled on something a bit more mellow like below. The colour rose I have opted for is called "Aqua" and my florist very kindly gave me half a dozen roses so I could see the exact colour - it is beautiful.

I then discovered such a thing as a "Jade" rose, a stunning green rose which I asked my florist to incorporate if possible. Well since I have possibly, maybe, almost decided on buying THE dress, I have decided that actually I don't think those colours are going to work. A few month ago I balked at the idea of matching flowers to the dress, I positively scoffed in the face of it but now I found myself doing just that.

I think it's finally coming together and I now plan to send my florist an email (that's if she hasn't changed her email address to stop me bugging her) and ask her about these roses - this is the style I want my wedding flowers to look like. I am sure of it. For now.

Mindboggling Scrapbooking Madness

Today I decided that I should try and start a scrapbook to house all the bits of paper I have torn out of numerous wedding magazines over the past few months. I don't know about anyone else but I have so many ideas I just don't know which way to go. I have changed my mind about colour scheme too many times, veering constantly between two favourites. I can't make my mind up between cupcakes or three tier stacked cakes. I can't choose between £30 Debenhams shoes or £400 Gina shoes. I just seem to be so bamboozled with choice I can't force myself to make decisions.

Finding THE dress (albeit perhaps not the one I will be having) has helped me in finding a little direction. I now know which colours to go for and I also know I want pearls and diamonds and lace, so the overall look of the day is coming to me - thank heavens for that, it's taken long enough.

So this scrapbook, I have lots of little ideas to stick down so as to have a little inspiration book to take with me places. I've managed to be cut-throat and sling ideas that whilst sound fabulous, I'm really not going to be doing for whatever reason, so it's been whittled down to things that match my "theme" and how I want to look on the day. The problem is, I seem to have lost my crafting mojo since having a not entirely successful session trying to draft invites. I can't even bring myself to pick up the Pritt Stick.

This doesn't bode well for my future wedding crafting projects does it? I thought this was meant to be fun!!
